Description

Mouthpiece and Non-Invasive Ventilation are two very important tools used to treat early-stage neuromuscular disease patients. The purpose of this course is to provide a basic understanding of the clinical manifestations of neuromuscular disease and benefits of treatment modalities.

Describe and compare the differences between normal breathing and breathing in individuals with neuromuscular diseases (NMD).
Proposed Learning Objective (2)
Analyze and discuss the testing parameters used for diagnosing and monitoring neuromuscular diseases (NMD).
Proposed Learning Objective (3)
List and summarize the differences between ventilator therapy and BiPAP therapy.
Proposed Learning Objective (4)
Identify and explain the benefits of non-invasive ventilation (NIV) for patients with neuromuscular diseases (NMD).
